FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Atturo Tires Introduces Ten New Sizes

Atturo Tire has released six new sizes in the AZ850 high performance SUV tire, and four new sizes to the AZ800 model.  The AZ850 is targeted to meet the increasing power and handling demands of the modern SUV and Cross Over vehicle market.  The new sizes added will further address this growing market segment.  The new sizes in the AZ800 go in the other direction by covering some of the legacy sport truck sizes recently abandoned by many other manufacturers, but still in demand by the market.
The new AZ850 sizes are all YR speed rated with the proper load index to match OE specifications.  The sizes and example fitments are as follows:
245/50R18 104Y XL – BMW X3, Hyundai ix35,
255/55R18 109Y XL – Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes ML, Porsche Cayenne, Subaru Tribeca, VW Touareg
265/50R19 110Y XL – Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg
255/50R20 109Y XL – Cadillac SRX, Ford Explorer, Land Rover Discovery, Honda Pilot
295/40R21 111Y XL – Mercedes GL
295/30R22 103Y XL  - Plus size for 275/40R20
The new sizes in the AZ800 range cover a large cross section of vehicles from the last 10 years.  Many of these sizes have been dropped by other manufacturers.  As a specialist in the SUV/Light Truck segment, Atturo sees the value in continuing to provide these sizes for the markets where they are still in demand.  The new sizes are:
255/70R15 112H XL
275/60R15 107H XL
255/70R16 111H XL
275/55R17 109V

Together, these ten new sizes represent continued opportunity for Atturo dealers to serve the fastest growing segment of the auto market.  All of the AZ850 and AZ800 are produced in Taiwan and not subject to any additional duties.  These tires represent a rare chance for dealers to bring a quality tire to drivers at a value price point.  Atturo is stocking these new sizes now and they are available for distributors for factory direct container orders.  Atturo is keeping performance within reach!

Fast speeds, big jumps and side by side racing thrills fans all over the country and showcases the performance of key products, especially tires.

Atturo Tires, a brand dedicated to tires for the sport utility, crossover, and light truck market has joined forces with TORC as an Official Series Partner for the purpose of telling their product story to the National TORC Audience. Tires are one of the most important components of a winning truck in TORC.  Only the highest-quality products like Atturo’s Trailblade ™ series can withstand the abuse that these race-trucks make as they race their way around tracks that have serious terrain challenges.

“Lap after lap, a TORC track changes and becomes increasingly punishing to tires,” says Series President BJ Birtwell. “Add high speeds and the fact that these trucks fly 200 feet through the air and land on rough terrain means that tires are put to arguably the most intense test in all of racing.”

Atturo, based in Chicago, IL, has created a name for itself in the tire industry by developing race quality tires in a consumer price range to meet the needs of today's light truck owner.  Whether it’s replacing original equipment tires, or upgrading to a larger size, Atturo offers a tire to enhance the performance and appearance of its customers’ truck, living up to its slogan, “Performance Within Reach.”

“As a leader in providing consumers with pro-quality tires in the light truck and SUV/crossover markets, Atturo is proud to partner with TORC in this series,” said Atturo’s Michael Mathis. “ We’re here to let consumers know the Atturo tires that perform in the harsh environment of the TORC series are the same tires they can get every day at dealers around the globe.”

Atturo Tires: They'll Cut You Like A Knife!

One of the unique design and technology aspects to Atturo's Trailblade M/T and X/T tires are the knife blade motif.  It provides our tires with an aggressive look and lateral grip in dirt, sand and snow.

The unique design of the Trail Blade M/T is based on the cutting edge blades of the Mantis Knife Company. We partnered with Mantis to create something fresh in the LT tire segment. As the styling of the tire has become almost as important as the performance, we sought a unique blend of the two. The shoulder and corresponding sidewall tread blocks are based on the BK-1 Wicked blade, even including the contoured edges. The alternate sidewall lugs are from the Karambit blades. Mantis is making some of the most unique quality blades on the market. Where else can you put the same blade in your pocket and on your truck?

The innovative, new Atturo Trail Blade X/T offers rugged performance and amazing style in a new kind of all-terrain tire for owners of lifted vehicles and modified SUVs. Atturo now offers the aggressive sidewall style of our popular Trail Blade M/T combined with a tread designed for performance on the trail as well as on the road. Collaborating with Jared West of Quartermaster Knives, Atturo remains on the “cutting edge” of all-terrain style!

Chinese Tire Tariffs – This Time Could Be Different

It appears that another round of increased tariffs on Chinese made tires is upon us. While this does not directly effect Atturo, since our tires are not made in China, it will have consequences to the overall tire market. The primary impact will of course be on the price levels of various tires. This may hit consumers especially hard. It doesn’t have to be that way!
According to a recent article by Bob Ulrich in Modern Tire Dealer, prices on passenger and light truck tires have increased by 25-29% between 2008 and 2012. This period coincides with the last round of increased duty. But don’t forget, this same period saw the price of natural rubber nearly triple. If we are honest, then we must admit that there was also a good amount of profiteering by the premium brands. They sought to maintain their price points above the entry level tires, which suddenly become more expensive.
This was a lost opportunity for domestic tire producers, and all brands, to sell quality. Most of the industry begrudgingly accepts Chinese produced tires as a necessary entry level product. While the overall quality of these tires has continued to improve, there is still a reasonable gap between the next levels up the scale. The prior duty regime should have created an opportunity to set the price difference aside and educate the consumer about why they should prefer the better quality tire.
Between the higher duty, accelerating rubber prices and the arbitrary profiteering, the consumer really did get harmed over the 2008-2012 period. Two of these three factors were outside the control of the tire industry. I believe some type of increased tariff will come again. Rubber prices have come back down and seem stable at the moment. The third pillar is the pricing to be set by the non-Chinese producers. What will they do?
For Atturo’s part, we know the challenges of a new brand trying to earn a reputation for quality and value. Many others from Japan, Korea and other emerging manufacturing hubs have covered this same ground in the past. I look at this next round of higher tariffs as our opportunity to educate customers about the better quality tire which they can get for a very small price difference. This represents true value to the vehicle owner. Drivers will benefit from superior handling, braking, wet traction, proper load and speed index and improved longevity. Dealers will have the confidence of a satisfied customer, solid margins and the support of a US based operation.
Atturo’s pledge is that we will not seek to profiteer under any new tariff regime. While prices may fluctuate for a variety of reasons, Atturo is not going to seek to raise our prices solely to profiteer from an increase to the entry level products we seek to distinguish ourselves from. We started this company because we believe that great tires do not have to cost a lot of money. We also believe that it is better long term business to sell more tires at a fair price, than to try to capitalize on a short term government induced condition. Atturo will continue to keep performance within reach for our customers. Are you with us?
